Welcome to ChaosMotorSport - Home of the CMS Buggy project!
This site is dedicated to the design and construction of a road legal, twin seat, mid-engined buggy and its ongoing development, I originally designed this buggy to be lightweight, cheap to build and run, with a Suzuki Swift engine and gearbox, however over time it became obvious that the smaller Suzuki engine lacked the power when the buggy was driven on the UK's motorways so a major upgrade to the buggy has been built moving away from the Suzuki running gear and instead adopting VW Golf running gear - Check out the MK 2 Upgrade build for details of the changes and the fitment of a 1.8T VW engine and the MK 2 build for the original build using Suzuki running gear.
Fabrication of custom parts is key to the design to allow the fabricated components to accept off the shelf components from various manufacturers (See parts supplier lists to see where specific components have been purchased from), the buggy features all round fully independent twin wishbone suspension, with 12 inches / 300 mm of travel
This vehicle has been designed with the aid of 3D CAD/CAM software specifically to meet or exceed the UK IVA regulations - ensuring the vehicle will pass the required IVA test once completed (Required within the UK for all kit car or custom built vehicles).
I have documented the build (see the Build Diarys) and upgrades to the buggy and taken photographs at each stage of construction (In excess of 600 Photos and several videos have been taken of the initial build and so far over 300 photos and videos of the upgrade to VW running gear - see the Galleries section MK 2 build / MK 2 Upgrade Build ) and video at key points of the build and testing (See Video section).
I have also posted additional galleries covering the build of the specialist tools I designed and built to aid the construction and development of the buggy (see Buggy Lift and Tube bender in the Galleries section)
Anyway take a look around the site and enjoy the content!
